Krivoniak Selected As NEC Rookie of the Week

Moon Township, Pa. – Freshman April Krivoniak (Greensburg, Pa. / Latrobe) of the Robert Morris University women's track & field team picked up the first weekly honor of her outdoor career Tuesday, as she was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week.

In her outdoor track & field collegiate debut, Krivoniak claimed gold in the shot put at the Bobcat Open Classic (3/29/14), which was hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan, in Buckhannon, W. Va., last weekend. Krivoniak posted a toss of 13.46 meters (44'2") to claim the title, finishing over two and-a-half meters better than the second-place finisher.

Thanks to her performance at the Bobcat Open Classic, Krivoniak ranks second on the 2014 NEC leaderboard, trailing only Sacred Heart's Kolbi Smith by 17 centimeters.

Robert Morris continues its 2014 campaign Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5, by traveling to Williamsburg, Va., to take part in the Colonial Relays. The meet is hosted by William & Mary.
