Colonials Drop Trio of Matches in Florida

The Robert Morris University women's tennis dropped a trio of matches in its annual spring break trip to Orlando, Fla.

The Colonials opened the trip Saturday with an 8-1 setback to Grand Valley State, fell to Radford, 6-1, Monday and concluded the trip with a 6-1 loss to South Dakota State.

Senior Carolina Mourao Teixeira (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil / Cruzeiro) earned a pair of victories in singles action during RMU's trip in Florida. Against Grand Valley State she earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Lexi Rice. Two days later, Mourao Teixeira knocked off Taylor Newman of Radford, 6-2 and 6-1, at the No. 1 singles flight.

Freshman Alina Schibol (Hamburg, Germany) continued her solid freshman season by earning RMU's lone point against SDSU, posting a 5-7, 7-3 and 6-4 win over Ffion Davis at the No. 4 single flight.

Robert Morris will return to the court by opening Northeast Conference Friday, March 14, against Saint Francis U. in a match that will take place in Emmitsburg, Md.
