Colonials Prepare to Defend Home Ice Versus PSU

Robert Morris ready to continue winning ways at 84 Lumber Arena

Pittsburgh, Pa. The Robert Morris University women's hockey team looks to continue its winning ways at home when it returns to 84 Lumber Arena to host College Hockey America opponent Penn State on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3:05 p.m.
 
RMU (7-4-1, 3-1-0) is riding a three-game winning streak and has won seven of its last eight. PSU (3-7-2, 0-2-2) is still in the hunt for its first conference victory.
 
Last weekend at RIT, the Colonials swept a two-game series against the two-time defending CHA champion Tigers to the tune of a 4-0 shutout victory on Friday and a dramatic finish Saturday featuring a four-goal third period to lift the Colonials to a 6-3 win. On Friday, junior Jessica Dodds became the winningest goaltender in RMU history (37) and surged to the top of the all-time shutout record list with her ninth in three seasons. In Saturday's victory, junior Maeve Garvey posted a career-high three points, including a career-best tying two goals in the third period and one assist. Redshirt sophomore Brittany Howard was named CHA Player of the Week (1-3-4) and freshman Maggie LaGue was recognized for her standout performance on the weekend (1-4-5) with CHA Rookie of the Week honors.

Robert Morris versus Penn State
The Colonials hold a hefty advantage over the Nittany Lions in the all-time series, 11-1-0. In each of its wins over Penn State, Robert Morris has scored four goals or more and limited PSU to two goals or less. The Colonials have shut out the Nittany Lions three times.
 
Players to Watch
Redshirt sophomore Brittany Howard has posted seven career points against the Nittany Lions (3-4-7), while junior Mackenzie Johnston has recorded six (2-4-6) and junior Maeve Garvey has earned five (2-3-5). All three are coming off prolific performances on the road at RIT.
 
First Things First
For the first time this season and the first time since Oct. 7, 2014, RMU is receiving votes in a national poll (USA Today/USA Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll). Robert Morris is the only team in the CHA currently receiving votes nationally.
 
Hot Streaks
Junior forward Mackenzie Johnston is riding a six-game point streak (3-4-7). Redshirt sophomore Brittany Howard and freshman Maggie LaGue have each posted points in their last three outings.
 
Among the Ranks
Robert Morris ranks among the top five in NCAA Division I women's hockey in multiple categories, including power play opportunities (52; 1st), penalty kills (48; 1st), blocked shots (218; 2nd) and blocked shots per game (17.67; 1st). RMU boasts a top-10 scoring offense, power play, penalty kill unit and combined special teams.
