RMU Readies for Final Regular-Season Road Trip

Colonials have opportunity to clinch home ice advantage for first round of CHA Tournament

Pittsburgh, Pa. – After dropping a two-game series at home to College Hockey America leader Mercyhurst, the Robert Morris University women's hockey team seeks renewed energy on the road at second-place Syracuse in its final road trip of the regular season on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. in Tennity Ice Pavilion in Syracuse, N.Y.

The Colonials (14-11-5, 6-6-4) split a series with the Orange (14-13-3, 10-4-2) earlier this season, and can clinch home ice for the first round of the CHA Tournament with a sweep of the upcoming weekend series. If RMU drops both games to Syracuse on the road, it can still secure home ice if fellow CHA opponent Lindenwood does not earn a point at Penn State this weekend.

Senior captain Ashley Vesci scored twice in the OT loss to the Orange, while junior Mikaela Lowater tallied a goal and an assist. Vesci and redshirt sophomore Brittany Howard scored the two RMU goals in the shutout victory.

In the Hunt
Robert Morris currently ranks third in the CHA standings, but the Colonials are just six points behind second-place Syracuse and have a chance to further close the gap this weekend.
