CHA Tournament Opens with Lindenwood at 84 Lumber

Colonials take on Lions at 84 Lumber Arena in opening round of conference playoffs

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The postseason officially gets underway this weekend at 84 Lumber Arena, where the number-four seed Robert Morris University women's hockey team will host number-five seed Lindenwood in a best-of-three series to open the College Hockey America Tournament on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. if necessary.
 
Robert Morris (15-14-5) holds a 3-0-1 edge over Lindenwood (8-22-4) in the 2015-16 regular season series.

Robert Morris versus Lindenwood
The Colonials lead the all-time series with the Lions, 16-5-1. RMU controlled this year's regular-season series with LU, as they went 3-0-1. Robert Morris has won seven of the last 10 games against Lindenwood. The Colonials have lost to the Lions in Pittsburgh just once (Jan. 11, 2013). Five of the last eight meetings between the two programs have gone into overtime.
 
Let the Postseason Begin
To conclude the regular season, Robert Morris finished fourth in the CHA standings. They clinched home ice for the first round of the CHA Tournament with a win Friday in the RIT series. The Colonials will host number-five seed Lindenwood in a best-of-three series. The winner of the series will move on to the semifinals, which will be played at the HarborCenter in Buffalo, N.Y.
 
CHA Tournament History
The Colonials and the Lions have recent postseason history. In 2012-13, RMU defeated LU in two, including a thrilling triple-overtime victory to open the series. That year, the Colonials met number-one seed Mercyhurst in the semifinals. Last season, RMU fell to RIT in two games in the opening round of the CHA Tournament.
 
Hot Streaks
The Colonials have scored two or more goals in four of their last five games, including the last three. RMU has scored a special teams goal (two power-play, one shorthanded) in each of its last three games. Redshirt sophomore Brittany Howard has recorded a point in four of her last five games played.
 
Moving On Up
Redshirt sophomore Brittany Howard leads RMU in points, goals and assists and has been steadily climbing the individual career record lists at Robert Morris all season. She currently ranks fifth all-time in points (78), tied for second in game-winning goals (9) and tied for fourth in assists (45).
