RMU Tabbed Sixth in NEC Preseason Coaches Poll

Moon Township, Pa. – According to a poll of league head coaches, the Robert Morris University cross country team has been picked to finish sixth in the Northeast Conference (NEC) in 2016.
 
Tabbed as the 2016 preseason favorite is Sacred Heart, which claimed nine first-place votes. Rounding out the top five is Central Connecticut, Bryant, Saint Francis U and Wagner. The Red Flash earned one first-place tally.
 
Following the Colonials in the poll is Fairleigh Dickinson, LIU Brooklyn and Mount St. Mary's, which were picked to tie for eighth, and St. Francis Brooklyn.
 
Led by head coach Caitlin Cotter, RMU returns its top two harriers from 2015 in juniors Maggie Prorok and Rachel Crane. Prorok finished 21st at the 2015 NEC Championships with a time of 19:02.0 in the five-kilometer course. Crane earned 35th, crossing the finish line in 19:31.0.
 
RMU opens its 2016 season Friday, Sept. 2, with the Father Bede Invitational in Loretto, Pa.
