Pittsburgh, Pa. - Robert Morris University men's hockey alumnus Eric Levine '13 will be attending training camp with the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks, the team announced Thursday. Levine will be one of five goaltenders attending the Blackhawks preseason training camp, which begins Friday, September 23.

Levine, a goaltender for the Colonials from 2009-2013, has played professionally in the minor leagues since graduating from Robert Morris. In August, Levine signed a contract with the Rockford IceHogs, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of Chicago.

Levine joined the IceHogs late in the 2015-16 season, but did not play a game. The Colonials graduate played in 19 games for the ECHL's Colorado Eagles, going 10-7-0 with a .915 save percentage, 2.30 goals-against average and four shutouts. Levine has played in 29 ECHL contests since the 2014-15 season posting a 14-9-1 record, a 2.67 GAA, a .909 save percentage and four shutouts.

Levine played four seasons for Robert Morris University, helping the program to 20 wins as a senior, playing in 35 games and posting a 19-12-4 record with four shutouts. Levine recorded a 2.55 GAA, and .929 save percentage that season. Levine was named the Three Rivers Classic Tournament MVP after stopping all 99 shots he faced in two games, including a 51-save, 1-0 shutout win over Miami University.

To date, there are three Robert Morris University alumni with announced contracts in the AHL, including 2016 graduates Brandon Denham and Tyson Wilson.

Robert Morris opens the 2016-17 season with an exhibition game on October 1 against Queen's University at 84 Lumber Arena in Pittsburgh. The Colonials begin Atlantic Hockey regular season play against conference rival RIT in Rochester with a series on October 7-8.
