Robert Morris Hosts AIC in Atlantic Hockey Duel

Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's hockey team (3-7-1, 3-5-1 AHC) welcomes American International College (4-6-2, 3-3-2 AHC) for an Atlantic Hockey series on Friday and Saturday at Colonials Arena.

LAST TIME OUT
Robert Morris suffered a sweep by RIT, falling 5-3 on Friday and 5-2 on Saturday, each game capped with an empty net goal. Luke Lynch scored in both games, running his scoring streak to four consecutive games. Brady Ferguson and Spencer Dorowicz each scored in the first game. Freshman Nick Prkusic scored his first career goal Saturday. Francis Marotte played the first game in goal, Andrew Pikul started the second and was replaced by Marotte in the final period.

ALL-TIME SERIES vs. AIC
Robert Morris leads the all-time series with AIC 16-4-3 with a 10-3-2 home record. RMU has won the last three matchups, including a series sweep in January 2017. RMU is 7-1-2 vs. AIC since the start of the 2013-14 season. 

MUSKET SHOTS
LYNCH LIGHTS IT UP
Sophomore forward Luke Lynch has been lighting the lamp to the tune of nine goals in 11 games and is RMU's goals & points leader.

POWER UP
Brady Ferguson leads the Colonials in power play scoring with all but three of his points coming on the man advantage. The senior forward has four goals and three assists on the power play (5G-5A-10P overall). Ferguson has also scored a shorthanded goal.

PACEMAKERS
Luke Lynch & Michael Louria are tied for the team scoring lead with 11 points apiece. Louria is scoring at a point per game pace and has recorded at least a point in all but two contests this season. Louria was held off the scoresheet in the Oct. 27 game at Ohio State and in last Saturday's loss at RIT. Lynch is also scoring at a point per game pace this season and has gone just two games without a point (at Canisius 10/14, vs. OSU 10/28).

APPLES TO APPLES
Louria has six assists in the last five games, recording two apiece in RMU's 3-0 win over Holy Cross on 11/4 and 11/10 at RIT.

SCOROWICZ
Senior Spencer Dorowicz is halfway to his single-season career-high in scoring (16 points in 2015-16, 2016-17), with 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points thus far. Dorowicz has been one of the Colonials most consistent forwards this season, has two game-winning goals and a plus-three rating. 

BLOCK PARTY
Senior defenseman Alex Bontje is second in Atlantic Hockey with 28 blocked shots at a rate of 2.55 blocks per game (T-7th in NCAA)

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Robert Morris has scored forty-percent of its goals in the first period (12), forty-percent in the second (12) and just six in the third.

GO AHEAD AND COME BACK
The Colonials have scored 22 of their 30 goals while either tied or trailing in a game, adding to a lead just eight times.

SHOOT YOUR SHOT
Luke Lynch is ranked 5th in the NCAA in shooting percentage at .360 (9 goals, 25 shots on goal). Lynch averages 2.27 shots per game.

KILL ME NOW
RMU's penalty killers posted a perfect performance in the 3-0 win over Holy Cross, and have killed 80% of penalties this season.

SHUTOUT SHOW
Francis Marotte recorded his third career shutout in RMU's 3-0 win over Holy Cross on Nov. 4, tying him for fourth all-time at RMU with Christian Bounce and Brooks Ostergard. The all-time record is eight, held by 2016 graduate Terry Shafer (2nd Dalton Izyk, 6; 3rd Eric Levine, 5).

Luke Lynch is nearly point-for-point matching the scoring rate of his older brother, Robert Morris all-time scoring leader Zac Lynch.

LONE STAR LEADING SCORER
Brady Ferguson is the NCAA's active career scoring leader. After posting the fifth-highest scoring NCAA men's hockey season in 2016-17 with 58 points, Ferguson is the lone returner out of that Top 5. The Carrollton, Texas native has five goals and five assists for ten points in 11 games this season.

Brady Ferguson reached a milestone in the season opener at Niagara, scoring a pair to reach the 50 career goal mark. Ferguson is just the fifth player in RMU history to reach 50 career goals.

CLASS ACT
Brady Ferguson has been named one of twenty candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, presented to a student-athlete who excels in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

RICHTER AWARD
Sophomore goaltender Francis Marotte has been named to the Mike Richter Award watch list, the award presented yearly to the player deemed the best goaltender in men's Division I college hockey.

412 CREW
The Colonials roster contains three players who call Pittsburgh home:
Jacob Coleman (Moon Township), Alex Dagnal (McMurray) and Luke Lynch (Shaler).

 AIC YELLOW JACKETS 
Eric Lang is currently in his 2nd season as head coach. After an 0-5-1 start to the season, AIC has gone 4-1-1 in its last six games and enters the weekend on a 3-game winning streak after a sweep of Sacred Heart.

Freshman goaltender Stefano Durante has started and won each of the last three games, replacing sophomore Zacharias Skog and senior Alex Murray in goal, after the two combined for the first nine starts of the year. Sophomore forward Martin Mellberg and freshman defenseman Brennan Kapcheck are tied for the team lead in scoring with 3 goals, 7 assists and 10 points apiece. Three of AIC's top four scorers are defenseman (Brennan Kapcheck 3-7-10, Janis Jaks 4-5-9, Andrew DeBrincat 1-6-7). AIC is ranked second nationally in goals by defenseman with 13 (Alaska is first with 14).

LAST TIME OUT
The Yellow Jackets swept Sacred Heart for the first time since the 1998-99 season with 6-2 and 4-1 victories last weekend. DeBrincat posted a 4-point game in the opener while Mellberg scored 2 goals and an assist. Blake Christiansen had 2 goals and an assist in the weekend finale.

JACKETS BUZZING
Stefano Durante has started each of the last three games, going 3-0-0 in his those starts with a .935 save percentage. Janis Jaks has a three-game point streak that coincides with the team's three-game winning streak. He has posted 3-3-6 in the last three games.
