Dachon Burke of the
Robert Morris University men's basketball team was tabbed the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week Monday.
In a home sweep in the program's final two games at the Charles L. Sewall Center last week, Burke averaged 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals while shooting 63.2 percent (12-for-19) from the field, including 66.7 percent (4-for-6) from beyond the arc.
In a 77-76 win over Fairleigh Dickinson (2/23/17), Burke contributed 13 points and three steals. He converted six of his 10 shots from the floor.
Two days later in a 79-72 victory over Sacred Heart (2/25/17), Burke established a career high with 17 points while registering four rebounds, an assist, block and steal. He knocked down six of his nine shots, including 3-of-4 from deep.
In 31 games in 2016-17, including 15 starts, Burke is supplying the Colonials with averages of 7.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest. He ranks third for RMU in steals with 49, an average of 1.58 per game that ranks fifth in the circuit. In 18 league games, Burke finished with 32 thefts, an average of 1.78 per contest that tied for fourth in the NEC, and has recorded at least one steal in each of his last 13 games.

Andrew Toole, Robert Morris opens the 2017 NEC Tournament Wednesday with a 9:00 p.m. tip at No. 2 seed LIU Brooklyn. The Colonials have won four of their last five games over the Blackbirds at the Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the game can be seen live on Fox College Sports (FCS) and MSG+.
