Moon Township, Pa. – For the first time since October of 2013, the Robert Morris University men's golf will host the RMU Colonial Classic in the team's last competition before the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships.
Robert Morris will host the event at Montour Heights Country Club after the previous four editions of the Classic were held at The Club at Shadow Lakes. The Colonials have brought home the team title in three of the last four invitationals, and four tournament crowns since 2000. Saint Francis U is the reigning champion, thanks to a two-day score of 589 in 2013.
This year's invitational features a nine-team field as Canisius, Humber, Iona, Niagara, St. Bonaventure, Saint Francis U, and Youngstown State join a pair of RMU teams. It is the deepest field for the Classic since 2009, when a total of 10 teams competed at Montour Heights Country Club.
Drew Creighton of Canisius posted the best two-round score in the invitational's history, shooting a seven-under 137 in 2007. Creighton opened that year with a 65, which is tied for the best single round score with Chris King of Oakland in 2002.
Toronto's winning score of 586 in 2007 is the lowest two-round tally at the RMU Colonial Classic. Four teams have fired a 292 in a single round – Loyola in 2005, Clarion and Toronto in 2007, and Saint Francis U in 2013.
The schedule is set for a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, April 10, followed by a 9:00 a.m. beginning on Tuesday, March 11.
