Rachel Boody of the
Robert Morris University outdoor track & field team is seeded 44th in the discus for the 2017 NCAA East Preliminary, which takes place Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27, in Lexington, Ky.
Boody will compete in the discus Friday, May 26, at 2:00 p.m.
It has been a banner year for Boody in her final season of eligibility, as she owns each of the top five marks in school history in the discus as well as six of the top 10 marks. Her latest performance of 49.62 meters (162'9") at the 2017 ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Princeton, N.J., secured her spot in the 2017 NCAA East Preliminary, helped her earn silver in the event and garner All-East Coast accolades.

At the 2017 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emmitsburg, Md., Boody claimed the individual title in the discus, becoming RMU's fifth outdoor champion in the event and first since Aubree Ray in 2014. Boody posted a toss of 44.58 meters (146'3.50") to win the championship.
In the final meet of the regular season prior to the 2017 NEC Outdoor Championships, Boody won gold at the Red Flash Open in the discus with a throw of 49.08 meters (161'0"). That performance had marked the third consecutive meet in which Boody broke her own school record in the event and was her best mark until the 2017 ECAC Championships.
