Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team has announced the signing of Nicholas Mihalo to a National Letter of Intent.

Mihalo, a native of Windsor, Ontario, captained the Holy Names Catholic golf team for the last two seasons. He helped guide the team to a trio of regional championships and a fourth place finish at the 2015 Provincial High School Championship, while placing second in an individual playoff at the 2015 District Championships.

The newest Colonial has a résumé of impressive finishes in various individual competitions. Mihalo finished in a tie for fifth at the 2015 Golfweek Junior Tour (GJT) event at Michigan State, and also qualified for the 2015 Optimist International Championship at PGA National. He placed in a deadlock for 32nd at the 2016 Ontario Junior Boys Championship and qualified for that year's Canadian Junior Boys Championship, and also tied for 42nd at the 2016 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Coca-Cola Junior Championship. At the Michigan Junior Amateur Championship, Mihalo advanced to the second round of the match play portion and finished in a tie for eighth in stroke play. He also tied for 15th at the Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) Junior Invitational Championship.

Mihalo also played volleyball and basketball at Holy Names Catholic and plans on majoring in accounting and finance at Robert Morris. His brother, Brandon, is a senior on the Saint Francis U golf team who placed third at the 2017 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. and was named to the All-NEC First Team.

Robert Morris finished third at the NEC Championships, its ninth consecutive season placing on the top half of the conference leaderboard. The Colonials are set to return the majority of their team in 2017-18, including All-NEC Second Team selections Daniel Franco Saad and Max Palmer – the latter also claiming NEC Rookie of the Year plaudits.
