RMU Finishes Fall Season at FGCU’s Homewood Hilton Airport Invite

Max Palmer tied for ninth individually and led all players in par three scoring

Estero, Fla. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team concluded its fall campaign this afternoon with the final round of the Homewood Hilton Airport Invitational, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast.

Robert Morris fired its best round of the tournament, shooting a 19-over 307 to finish eighth overall with a two-day total of 947 (+83). Campbell (882, +18) won the team title, followed by Texas Arlington (885, +21) and Eastern Kentucky (909, +45). Erik Lindwall of EKU claimed medalist honors, carding a three-round tally of 215 (-1) – the only player under par.

Max Palmer posted a four-over 76 on the afternoon, finishing in a deadlock for ninth place at 10-over 226. Palmer tallied three birdies and eight pars over his final round, with a pair of birdies coming on par threes. The junior was exceptionally strong on par threes during the two-day event, pacing the field at three-under and a 2.75 stroke average. He also tied for fifth among all competitors in birdies with 10.

Daniel Franco Saad put together his best round of tournament, firing a three-over 75. Like Palmer, Franco Saad posted a trio of birdies to go along with nine pars. He finished with the second-most birdies on the team with seven, and on par fives, the senior was one of 17 players at even par or below.

Bryce Gorrell carded RMU's best round of the day and tied for its top 18 of the tournament with a two-over 74. Gorrell collected two birdies and 12 pars, posting a one-under 35 over the back nine.

Chase Miller and David Szymanski each rounded out their tournaments with scores of 10-over 82. Miller finished tied for eighth in pars with 33.

Robert Morris will return to the Sunshine State to begin its spring season on Thursday, March 7, 2019 when it competes in the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational. The tournament is hosted by Bethune Cookman and is played at LPGA International, where the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships are held.
