Robert Morris leads its all-time series with the Mavericks, 5-3-1. In last season's opening series,
Brittany Howard scored :40 into overtime for a 2-1 win at Mankato Oct. 7, 2017, and a 6-2 Colonials win Oct. 8 completed the sweep.
That Oct. 14-15, 2011 series ended in a split, beginning with a 4-3 overtime win by RMU. Cobina Delaney scored the fourth OT goal in team history with 1:33 left.
The Colonials are unbeaten in six of their past seven games overall (4-1-2). They are unbeaten in five of their past nine against WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) opponents as they prepare to face their first since traveling to No. 8 Ohio State Jan. 12-13, 2018.
Key Notes
• October CHA Player of the Month
Jaycee Gebhard became the fifth Robert Morris player to amass 100 career points with her power play goal Nov. 9.
Brittany Howard '18 (181); Rebecca Vint '15 (134); Thea Imbrogno '14 (122) and Brianna Delaney '12 (121) round out that group. With 44 goals, Gebhard took sole possession of sixth place on the RMU career chart from Kristen Miles '09.
• Gebhard saw her career-high six-game goal streak end Nov. 10, but she pushed her point streak to seven games in a row by assisting on
Maggie LaGue's game-tying goal that day. This is Gebhard's longest such run since a seven-game stretch Jan. 13-Feb. 10, 2018, and in addition to leading College Hockey America with her 19 points (9 G, 10 A), she is tied for third in the NCAA scoring race with Loren Gabel of Clarkson entering Friday.
• Furthermore, Gebhard has maintained the overall Division I lead with her 192 faceoff wins. Her .580 faceoff win percentage ranks fourth in CHA coming into Friday. RMU, as a team, has the most faceoff wins in Division I (465).
•
Lexi Templeman registered eight points (PPG, 7 A) during her five-game point streak Oct. 26-Nov. 9. She factored into two power play goals Nov. 9, and six of her 12 total points have come on the PP. Her ten assists tie her with Gebhard for the conference lead (t-9th, NCAA).
•
Lauren Bailey has a 1.92 goals-against average at home, which ranks second among CHA goaltenders.
Arielle DeSmet backed her up Nov. 10 with a season-high 27 saves en route to her second CHA Rookie of the Week award.
• With a goal in three straight games,
Maggie LaGue has matched her career single-season high. Her Nov. 10 equalizer was her sixth career even-strength marker and first since her overtime winner at RIT Jan. 20, 2018.
• Robert Morris received votes in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls for the first time since Oct. 1-2. The Colonials helped knock 2018 NCAA runner-up Colgate out of the top ten with their Nov. 10 tie.
• Saturday's 2-2 draw with No. 10 Colgate marked the 21st time in program history that RMU earned at least a point from a nationally ranked opponent.
Worth The Wait
• Robert Morris went 3-0-4 in overtime in 2017-18. After its 2-2 tie with No. 10 Colgate Nov. 10, the Colonials are unbeaten in their last 14 sudden-victory finishes (5-0-10), dating back to a 3-3 tie on Oct. 22, 2016 at Merrimack.
Chasing History
•
Jaycee Gebhard, with 15 career power play goals, needs one more to surpass original Colonial Kristen Miles '09 for sixth place on the Robert Morris all-time chart.
• Gebhard and
Amber Rennie tied Megan Picinic '09 for fourth in Colonials history with eight career game-winning goals after each got one at RIT Nov. 2-3. Each needs one more GW to match Brianna Delaney for third all-time.
Once More, With Feeling!
•
Jaycee Gebhard (three),
Amber Rennie (two),
Lexi Templeman,
Caitlyn Sadowy and defenders
Emily Curlett and
Kirsten Welsh (two apiece) are the active Colonials who had multi-goal games in 2017-18. Behind the 13 by
Brittany Howard, the 12 by Rebecca Vint '15 and the ten by Brianna Delaney '12, Gebhard is next in line in RMU lore with seven all-time, and Rennie has four, including her first career hat trick Oct. 8, 2017 at Minnesota State. That was also the first natural hat trick by a Colonial since Howard's hatty against Brown Dec. 30, 2016.
They Are "Soph"
•
Emily Curlett matched her career high with six blocked shots versus St. Lawrence Sept. 29 and registered five in home games against RPI (Oct. 12) and Lindenwood (Oct. 26). Curlett led CHA defenders in 2017-18 with 70 blocks and leads D-I with 50 after finishing second as a rookie.
•
Lexi Templeman finished the 2017-18 season with a .559 faceoff win rate that ended up third among CHA rookies. Templeman has maintained the CHA lead (.643) through Nov. 11 and ranks 11th in the NCAA. Her .703 faceoff win percentage in home games is currently eighth in Division I.
You Can Go Home Again
• Last fall
Molly Singewald enjoyed the unique thrill of debuting in her home state. The Farmington, Minn. native played the last 7:19 of RMU's 6-2 win at Minnesota State Oct. 8, 2017 in relief of
Lauren Bailey and made her first two collegiate saves in the third period.
You Feel Shame For Two Minutes, And Then You Get Free
• Robert Morris went 5-for-6 on the penalty kill in last weekend's series versus No. 10 Colgate. Over its four non-confernce series thus far, the Colonials have gone 88.0% on the PK, the best out-of-conference success rate of any team in College Hockey America.
The Third Period Is Our Period
• The famous expression by women's hockey public address announcer Larry Snyder has rung true for the 2018-19 Colonials. Robert Morris enters this weekend with 16 total third-period goals this season, the most in Division I. In addition, its +7 goal margin in third period is tops in the NCAA.
