Moon Township, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University rowing team christened its 2019-20 campaign Saturday by taking part in the
33rd annual Head of the Ohio, presented by
UPMC.
Highlighting the regatta for the Colonials was the Lightweight 4+, which claimed first place with a time of 15:52.2 RMU knocked off Western Reserve (16:46.6), High Point (17:00.6), High Point "B" (18:53.6) and Miami (19:32.3) for the victory. The boat featured sophomore
Molly Rosado as coxswain and included freshmen
Kathryn Gronek and
Hannah Wandoff, sophomore
Mary Woods and freshman
Maria Ringo.
In Open 4+, Robert Morris earned bronze with a time of 15:51.0. Senior
Kestra Harris was the coxswain and she was joined by juniors
Madelyn Green and
Nicole Kristof and sophomores
Marissa Beck and
Madyson Orlando.

Also claiming medals for Robert Morris at the Head of the Ohio was the women's lightweight 2+, which claimed first and second. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Grubbs and senior
Kalyssa Pottgeiser anchored the winning entry at 18:11.9, while junior
Francesca Barchetti and senior
Sophie Carroll earned bronze with a time of 19:04.8.
Rounding out the medal winners for the Colonials was the Open 4+, which crossed the finish line with a time of 17:39.2 to earn silver. The boat consisted of rookies
Emily Kerry, Ringo,
Sydney Eaton and Wandoff.
Robert Morris now gears up for the
Yinzer Cup, which marks the first home regatta to be hosted by the Colonials since 2009. RMU hosts the event on Neville Island Saturday, Oct. 19.
