Grasonville, Md. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team finds itself in the middle of the pack of a 17-team field after the first round of the Towson Spring Invitational at Prospect Bay Country Club.
Robert Morris is tied for ninth after posting a 17-over 305. Youngstown State leads the field, finishing as the only team under par at one-under 287. LIU Brooklyn (294, +6), Fairfield (295, +7), Sacred Heart (295, +7), and Canisius (296, +8) round out the top five.
RESULTS: 2019 Towson Spring Invitational First Round
Fresh off winning his fourth career Northeast Conference (NEC) weekly/monthly award, Max Palmer fired a one-under 71 to sit fifth on the individual leaderboard. Palmer started strong with a birdie on the first hole, adding two more on the front nine. The junior collected 13 pars to cap off his fourth round at or below par this season.
Bryce Gorrell posted a five-over 77, followed by a six-over 78 by Daniel Franco Saad, and seven-over 79 by David Szymanski. Franco Saad and Szymanski both tallied a pair of birdies in their rounds, while Gorrell scored par on 14 holes.
Playing as an individual, Chase Miller fired an eight-over 80 with three birdies. Kyle Grube posted two birdies on the back nine in a nine-over 81.
