Grube, Palmer Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by GCAA

The All-NEC First Team duo are the first Colonials to gain the honor since Matt Gurska and Ryan Prokay in 2014-15

Moon Township, Pa. Kyle Grube and Max Palmer, rising seniors on the Robert Morris University men's golf team, were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), as announced by the organization in a press release this afternoon.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA, 79.0 in Division II, and 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college of university.

A pair of All-Northeast Conference (NEC) First Team selections, Grube and Palmer are Robert Morris' first GCAA All-America Scholars since the duo of Matt Gurska and Ryan Prokay garnered the honors following the 2014-15 season.

An Indiana, Pa. product, Grube enjoyed a breakout junior campaign in 2018-19, earning All-NEC First Team status after leading the team in rounds at or below par (7). He finished second on the team in stroke average (75.5) and collected All-NEC Tournament Team plaudits with a third-place finish at the NEC Championships (220, +4), helping the Colonials win the event. Grube collected NEC Co-Golfer of the Month accolades after a third-place effort at the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational (143, -1), and posted his career low of 70 (E) in the first round of the Wright State Invitational.

Grube carries a 3.77 cumulative GPA as a management major. He'll enter his senior season ranked sixth all-time in stroke average (76.20) and tied for 10th in rounds at or below par (7).

Palmer became the third player in program history to win NEC Golfer of the Year in 2018-19 and made his third consecutive All-NEC team. The Novi, Mich. native paced the Colonials in stroke average (73.7), top-five finishes (5), and top-10 finishes (7), rattling off six straight top-10 efforts from the Homewood Hilton Airport Invitational to the NEC Championships. He shared NEC Co-Golfer of the Month honors with Grube at the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational (143, -1), and finished second at both the Towson Spring Invitational (140, -4) and NEC Championships (219, +3).

Palmer carries a 3.53 cumulative GPA as a finance major. He'll start his last hurrah ranked second all-time in stroke average (74.10) and top-five finishes (11), third in rounds at or below par (15), and fifth in top-10 finishes (15).

Robert Morris captured its fourth NEC championship in 2018-19 and competed in the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional. The Colonials won three tournaments in all, extending a streak of 10 consecutive seasons with at least one tournament win.
