Daytona Beach, Fla. – The Robert Morris University men's golf team opened up the spring season with a seventh place finish out of 13 teams in the Lonnie Barton Invitational, held at LPGA International's Jones Course.
Robert Morris posted a 36-hole total of 34-over 610, coming in between Fairfield (609, +33) and Bryant (611, +35). Fairleigh Dickinson won the team title with an 11-over 587, followed by Sacred Heart (597, +21), St. John's (602, +26), Iona (602, +26), and Hartford (605, +29). Andrew Morris of FDU captured medalist honors after a two-round tally of one-under 143.

Kyle Grube netted his second consecutive runner-up finish after finishing the fall in second at the Towson Fall Invitational. The senior carded a two-day total of two-over 146, highlighted by a four-under 68 on the final 18 – tied for the best score across the two rounds. The 68 was his third round at or below par this season after he led the team with seven in 2018-19.
Chase Miller was the next highest finishing Colonial in a tie for 24th. Miller carded rounds of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4) for an 18-hole total of nine-over 153. Max Palmer was two strokes behind the sophomore with an 11-over 155, coming in a deadlock for 31st.
Alex Seelig carded a two-day total of 15-over 159, matching Logan Hess, who played as an individual. Cole Chase also played as an individual and finished with a 24-over 168.
Chris Sabol registered a four-over 76 over the first 18 holes before withdrawing during the second round.
Robert Morris will have a week off before returning to the course on March 21-22 for the Carpetbagger Classic in Urbana, Md., hosted by Colgate University.
