Pittsburgh, Pa. - RMU alumni Daniel Mantenuto became the latest Colonial to join the professional ranks this week when it was announced that he had signed a professional contract with Asiago Hockey 1935 of the Italian Hockey League Serie A for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Mantenuto wrapped up his four-year Colonials career last spring, amassing 22 goals and 66 points in 140 career games for RMU.
An all-situations center, Mantenuto earned a reputation as one of the most clutch players in program history, amassing five game-winning goals in his career as well as a remarkable 17 points in 20 career AHA playoff games.
The Thornhill, Ontario native missed just three games over his first three seasons, and cracked the double-digit points threshold in all four years wearing Colonial Red and blue.
He set a career high of 23 points during his junior campaign and ended his playing time on the Island last spring, posting four points over the final two games to help RMU come back from a 1-0 series deficit to knock off Holy Cross 2-1 and stay a perfect 10-0 all-time in best-of-three playoff series.
He joins teammates Luke Lynch and Jacob Coleman as the latest Colonials to join the pro ranks after both signed in the ECHL during the summer.
