Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU golf team concluded action in the Bucknell Invitational Tuesday, finishing seventh out of 15 teams. The Colonials posted a 283 in the third and final round at the Bucknell Golf Club, finishing the tournament with a score of 860 (+20).
 
TEAM CHAMPION
For the third day in a row a new team topped the leaderboard, with Army West Point carding a 275 Tuesday, five under par, to finish at 840 and claim the team championship. That mark was seven strokes better than Youngstown State and the host Bison, which tied for second at 847. Monmouth (848) and Colgate (851) round out the top five, with Mount St. Mary's (853) finishing just ahead of the Colonials. The field also included Niagara (866), Holy Cross B (874), Saint Francis U (881), Holy Cross (883), Canisius (887), Bucknell B (888), the Veterans Golf Association (910) and Wagner (913).
 
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
A pair of Colonials finished under par Tuesday, with senior 
Chase Miller posting a 68 (-2) and sophomore 
Skyler Fox checking in with a 69 (-1). Combined, the duo racked up nine birdies Tuesday, including five from Fox. On the front nine, Fox posted a 33, finishing with a birdie on No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 7. Included in those birdies was the longest hole of the course, a 601-yard par five at No. 3. Miller finished the three-day invitational with a score of 218 (+8), while Fox concluded at 221 (+11).
 
THE LINEUP
Taking home top honors individually for RMU at the Bucknell Invitational was junior 
Josh Nagy, who played a remarkably consistent tournament. He posted a 71 Sunday, carded his best round Monday with a 70 and concluded the invitational Monday with a 72. His three-day total of 213 was three over par, helping him finish in a four-way tie for 13th with Kevin Scherr and Ken Keller of Youngstown State and Colter Kautzmann of the Veterans Golf Association.
 
THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
The Colonials were at the top of the leaderboard for the tournament when competing on a par three as well as a par five. RMU averaged 3.13 strokes on a par three at the Bucknell Invitational, tied with Colgate for the top score of the tournament. Meanwhile, when playing a par five, RMU tied host Bucknell for the top mark, averaging 4.80 (-9) strokes. Fox produced the best average when playing a par five for RMU at 4.56 (-4) strokes, while junior 
Alex Seelig led the field with Nolan Schuermann of Holy Cross on a par three with an average of 2.93 (-1) strokes. Nagy, meanwhile, was even when playing a par three at 3.00.
 
FORE SCORE
Playing out of the No. 5 spot in the lineup, sophomore 
Xavier Schwarz finished second for the Colonials at the Bucknell Invitational with a three-day score of 216. He finished with a 75 Tuesday. A total of eight strokes separated each of the five Colonials in the lineup, with Seelig finishing at 220 after posting his second consecutive 74 Tuesday. Playing as an individual, junior 
Logan Hess also finished at 216 for RMU, joining Schwarz as one of six student-athletes to compete to tie for 23rd.
 
UP NEXT
The Colonials return to the course Saturday, Oct. 23, and Sunday, Oct. 24, by taking part in the Towson Fall Invitational at Prospect Bay Golf Club in Grasonville, Md.
