Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU golf team opened play in the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood, Ohio, Monday. Due to the weather conditions, the first day of the invite was shortened to 18 holes. The Colonials are tied for 10th with Youngstown State after recording a round of 295 (+11).
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Junior
Josh Nagy finished -1 on the back nine to open play in the tournament Monday, producing three birdies. He finished with two more birdies on the front nine and sits even after the first round with a score of 71. Nagy, playing out of the No. 3 spot in the lineup, finished with three birdies on a par four, one a par five and another on a par three during Monday's action. He sits in a tie for eighth. Kasey Lilly of Purdue Fort Wayne and Kyle Schmidt of Dayton each posted a 69 (-2) on the first day of action to tie for the lead individually.
THE LEADERBOARD
Butler sits in first place after the first day of action at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, posting a score of 283 to finish -1 on the road. The Bulldogs are the only team that finished under par. Rounding out the top four after Monday's play is Oakland (284), Dayton (287) and Green Bay (290). RMU sits just three shots off the top five, as DePaul, Purdue Fort Wayne and Northern Kentucky, each with rounds of 292, are in a tie for fifth, while Cleveland State and Saint Francis U, each at 293, are in a tie for eighth.

Sophomore
Skyler Fox recorded a round of 73 (+2) on the first day of action at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, posting a 37 on the back nine and a 36 on the front. One stroke behind Fox is sophomore
Xavier Schwarz, who shot a 74. Rounding out the top five in the lineup for the Colonials is juniors
Alex Seelig (77) and
Logan Hess (80).
