Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Colonials Fall To #4 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team saw their win streak snapped at four games Saturday with a loss to the #4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Arlotta Family Lacrosse Stadium by a final score of 16-2.

The loss moves RMU to 4-1 on the season ahead of tomorrow's clash against the Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis.

The Colonials managed to earn the first true scoring chance of the game Saturday against the #4 Irish as Jordan Anderson and Mackenzie Gandy missed just wide on successive chances following a successful clear attempt for the RMU midfield.

Back to back fouls on Madison Griffin and Kelsey Nelson set the Irish up with their first free-position attempt, and while Samantha Lynch fired her first effort wide, another FP attempt at the 18:50 mark helped Notre Dame strike first courtesy of Keelin Schlageter.

Foul trouble continue to hinder the Colonials, who gave up two more free-position goals in quick succession to make it a 3-0 game as the first half wound down to around the ten-minute mark.

They would push it 5-0 before Jordan Anderson finally got the Colonials on the board at 5-1 with her first of the day, but three more from Notre Dame pushed it back to 10-1 after 30 minutes of play.

After another failed free-position attempt at 28:11 of the second, ND rattled off two more tallies in a span of two minutes to make it a 12-1 lead.  Despite the offensive onslaught Katelyn Miller still managed 10 saves, including a point-blank stop on Samantha Lynch.

Melanie Gandy potted RMU's second of the game with 5:24 remaining, her lone point of the game.

The Irish finished a remarkable 16-16 on clear attempts and enjoyed an 14-5 advantage in draw controls in the winning effort Saturday.  A dominant 6-15-36 line in free-position opportunities also proved lethal for ND as they held on for the eventual 16-2 win.
