Springboro, Ohio – In its final tune-up before next week's Horizon League Championships, the Robert Morris University men's golf team posted its second best round of the season by strokes, firing a 296 (+12) this afternoon to finish in a tie for 13th at the Wright State Invitational. RMU moved up two positions from the day before, registering a 54-hole total of 919 (+67).
THE ROOKIE
Freshman Skyler Fox led RMU this afternoon with his best collegiate round thus far, firing a 72 (+1) with two birdies and 13 pars. Fox birdied both 420-yard par fours and rattled off seven consecutive pars from holes six to 12. The Beaver Falls, Pa. product finished 14th out of 87 players in birdies (8) for the tournament, and ultimately placed in a tie for 41st overall at 230 (+17).
SEELIG THE DEAL
Sophomore Alex Seelig finished off the best tournament of his collegiate career, topping his teammates on the individual leaderboard by placing in a tie for 21st. Seelig registered a 225 (+12) over the 54 holes, and matched his second-round score of 74 (+3), which is a career low. The Reading, Pa. native fired an eagle on the par-five, 513-yard ninth hole and added a birdie on the 14th hole, while collecting 10 pars over the round. Seelig tied for sixth in par three scoring (3.08, +1) and ninth in total birdies (9).
THE TEAM
Junior Chase Miller had a solid afternoon, carding a 73 (+2) with two birdies and 12 pars, and finished in a tie for 39th overall at 229 (+16). Graduate student Kyle Grube posted a 77 (+6) in the third round and a 235 (+22) over 54 holes. Redshirt sophomore Jimmy Ellis registered a 276 (+63) over the tournament.
THE ROUNDUP
Wright State captured the team title at its home event, finishing at 873 (+21) – 13 strokes over second-place Valparaiso and Ohio (886, +34). Purdue Fort Wayne (892, +40) and Youngstown State (894, +42) rounded out the top five. RMU shared 13th place with Cleveland State (919, +67), and finished ahead of Loyola Chicago (920, +68), Detroit Mercy (935, +83), and Saint Francis U (947, +95). Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon captured medalist honors with a 54-hole tally of 210 (-3).

RMU competes in its first Horizon League Championships from April 25-27. This year's league decider is being held in West Lafayette, Ind. at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
