Keturah Hunter of the RMU track & field team was named the Nike® Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday, it was announced by the league. It marks the
second honor of the 2021 outdoor season for Hunter, who was also bestowed the plaudit March 30.
In the final outdoor meet of the 2021 regular season last weekend at the Mountaineer Twilight (5/1) in Morgantown, W.Va., Hunter claimed gold in the hammer throw. She posted a toss of 56.99 meters (187'0"), which inched out Abby Moore of Ohio (56.94 meters) for the individual championship and was also the top mark in a field of 21 student-athletes from Pitt, Ohio, Rio Grande, Ohio Christian and Rio Grande.
Thanks to the performance at WVU, Hunter is a perfect 4-for-4 in individual championships during the 2021 outdoor campaign in the hammer throw. Hunter, a native of Florence, S.C., and a transfer from South Carolina State, now ranks second in program history thanks to her distance in the hammer throw at WVU. The school record of 188'11" was established in 2005 by Nicole Downing (2002-05) at the ECAC Championships.
Entering the
2021 #HLTF Outdoor Championships, Hunter is the No. 1 seed in the hammer throw. She is joined by senior
