Indianapolis, Ind. – Robert Morris University men's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Fredrich Petrelli has been tabbed the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
He receives the league accolade for the second time this season.
Petrelli helped the Colonials go 2-0 last week, securing a 2-1 win at VMI on Wednesday before capturing a 2-0 shutout victory over Detroit Mercy on Saturday afternoon. Against the Keydets, he faced five shots as Robert Morris was able to rally and snap a four-game losing streak. On Saturday, Petrelli tallied his fourth clean sheet of the season as he collected three saves on five shots faced.
A native of Germany, Petrelli ranks third in the Horizon League with a 1.32 goals against average, while posting a .653 save percentage. The sophomore keeper has collected 32 saves this fall on 125 shots faced. His four shutouts rank him tied for first in the Horizon league.
Robert Morris returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 29, when it travels to Green Bay for a conference match, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
