Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU golf team opened the 2022 Horizon League Championships Sunday in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., at Mission Inn Resort. The Colonials carded a 316 in the opening round and sit in 10th place.
TEAM LEADERBOARD
Wright State posted a score of 282 in the first round as three Raiders finished in the top six individually. WSU leads by seven strokes over Oakland (289) on the 6,765-yard par 72 course. Youngstown State (290) and Cleveland State and IUPUI, which each shot a 300 Sunday, round out the top five.
CAN'T YOU SEE
Junior
Alex Seelig posted a birdie on his first hole of the championships, a 530-yard par five at No. 10. He finished even on the back nine at 37 and finished his round Sunday at 73 (+1). Seelig recorded four birdies, including two when playing a par five, and his only double bogey came as he closed out the back nine at No. 18. Seelig is one of four student-athletes that sit in a tie for 12th individually, joining Max Pasher of Green Bay, Jules Blakely of Cleveland State and Brett Seward of Purdue Fort Wayne.
THE LINEUP
Sophomore
Xavier Schwarz finished with a 77 (+5) Sunday in the first round for the Colonials, one of five student-athletes that sit in a tie for 28th. Senior
Chase Miller concluded the first round with an 80 (+8), and he was followed by juniors
Josh Nagy and
Logan Hess, who each recorded an 86 (+14).

RMU will tee off at 8:20 a.m. Monday, April 25, for the second round of the 2022 Horizon League Championships at Mission Inn Resort. Junior
Parker Johnson will get the Colonials started on the first hole, and he'll be followed by Nagy at 8:30 a.m.
