Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU golf team wrapped up play in the Valparaiso Invitational Tuesday in Chesterton, Ind., finishing 13th with a score of 917 at Sand Creek Country Club. The Colonials finished the final 18 holes by carding a 303, their same score as the second round.
 
TEAM CHAMPION
The host Beacons surged to the team championship, carding a 278 to finish the three rounds at 848, a total of 16 under par. Loyola (Chicago) garnered second at 882 (+18) after recording a 296 Tuesday, while rounding out the top five was DePaul (883), Purdue Fort Wayne (884) and Northern Kentucky (887).
 
HANGING AROUND
Posting his best round of the tournament Tuesday, senior 
Josh Nagy carded a 73 to conclude the three rounds at 225 (+9) to finish 27th. He posted four birdies Tuesday, including one on the par five first hole and the other on the second longest hole of the course, the 535-yard 10th hole. Finishing a stroke behind Nagy was senior 
Alex Seelig, who also finished with a 73 Tuesday to finish the three rounds at 226 (+10). He was one of four student-athletes to finish tied for 28th, joining Cole Christman of Youngstown State, Trent Meyer of Green Bay and Jonny Filler of Cleveland State.
 
THE LINEUP
Freshman 
Peyton Iverson showed off his consistency at the Valparaiso Invitational in just his second tournament as an NCAA Division I student-athlete, posting a 78 for the third consecutive round Tuesday to finish the tournament at 234. Fifth-year 
Chase Miller finished a stroke behind Iverson at 235, while senior 
Logan Hess was a stroke behind Miller at 236. Playing as an individual, junior 
Deven Stewart notched a 251 for the three rounds.
 
THE FIELD
Earning medalist honors at the 2022 Valparaiso Invitational was Anthony Delisanti of the host Beacons. He posted a 69 in consecutive rounds after opening with a 70 to conclude the tournament at 208 (-8). Delisanti was one of three student-athletes from Valparaiso to finish in the top five, with Caleb VanArragon finishing a stroke behind at 209 (-7). Producing the best round of the tournament was Conor Glennon of DePaul, who finished six under Tuesday with a 66 to finish third overall at 210 (-6).
 
UP NEXT
RMU heads to Westlake, Ohio, to take part in the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, which is hosted by Cleveland State. The tournament takes place Monday, Oct. 3, and Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Lakewood Country Club.
