Colonials Drop Series at Princeton

Rice plays in 100th career game

Princeton, N.J. – The Robert Morris University women's hockey team lost to Princeton in game two, 0-4. The Colonials are now 3-3-0 overall on the year. The Tigers begin their campaign, 2-0-0 after their home opening weekend.
 
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Differing from yesterday's lineup, freshman Alyssa Rasmuson was slotted onto the fourth line for today's game and Emma Gorski earned the start in net.
 
The Colonials hopped off to an improved start from yesterday. Through the first 20 minutes, RMU executed their defensive plan well, not allowing a single goal.
 
Across the first period, RMU paced for 11 shots and killed off two penalties to keep the score, 0-0 into the first intermission.
 
Early on in the second period, the Colonials jumped out to a long possession in the offensive zone. For the first two minutes, the Colonials peppered four shots.
 
But, later on in the middle frame, the game started to open up for the Tigers. From the fifth to 15th minute of the period, the home side cashed in four times to extend their lead.
 
In the third period, the Colonials didn't give up and returned to their consistent play that they showed in the first period. RMU paced for a game-high 17 shot attempts in the third period.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Individually, Mya Neugent led the squad in shots with four. Junior Madison Primeau was 50% on her face-off battles, winning six out of 12. Defensively, Gillian Thompson, Wasyn Rice and Chloé Puddifant led the team in blocks, stopping three shots each. Between the posts, Emma Gorski made 30 saves on the day.
 
MILESTONE ACHIEVED
Graduate defenseman and captain Wasyn Rice, officially played in her 100th career game today at Princeton. She scored in yesterday's game, sniping in her first goal of the year. In her career she's produced four goals, seven assists and 11 points. She helped lead the Colonials to a CHA Tournament Championship back in the 2020-21 season.
 
UP NEXT
After playing a series on the road, the Colonials return home to Clearview Arena next weekend. They'll welcome Clarkson for a two-game series. The first game will be played on Friday, October 20 at 3:00 p.m. The following day, the team's will face-off again at 1:00 p.m.
