Opening Kick-Off
  • The Robert Morris University men's soccer program will head back out on the road to play Detroit Mercy on Saturday, October 28 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Last time out, the Colonials dominated against Oakland but couldn't cash in, losing 0-1. RMU led in shots, 17-9.
  • Previously, the Colonials traveled down south to take on the #4 team in the country, Wake Forest. They fell to the Demon Deacons, 1-5. Kai McLoughlin recorded his third goal of the season in the match.
  • Before that, RMU tied Green Bay, 1-1. Forward John Paul Mbuthia scored just a minute into the game. His strike 62 seconds into the match is the fastest goal scored this season by the program.
  • Sophomore midfielder Anass Hadran leads the team in points with three goals and three assists.
  • Junior captain Gabe Norris owns the most goals on the roster with four.
  • Currently, the Colonials are ranked seventh in the Horizon League.

The All-Time Series (Detroit Mercy) – Overall, RMU is 1-1-2 all-time against the Titans. The first game came back in 2013, playing at a neutral site in Oneonta, N.Y. After 90 minutes, both teams went to double-overtime with the game ending in a 0-0 tie. Before joining the Horizon League in 2020, the Colonials hosted the Titans in 2018, losing, 0-1. Then, in their first conference competition in 2021, Detroit Mercy hosted RMU, with the result ending in a 0-0 draw once again. Last season, RMU picked up their first win against the opposing program. Playing at the North Athletic Complex, the Colonials jumped out to an early lead in the third minute with a goal scored by Hugo Kadima, assisted by Victor Koah. In the 54th minute, the home side earned a penalty kick and Chase Gilley slotted it in for a 2-nil victory.
 
Scouting the Titans – Detroit Mercy has posted a 1-1-1 overall record in their past three games. They tied Purdue Fort Wayne, 1-1 and then beat Wright State, 2-1. Last game they played their final non-conference test, losing to Penn State, 0-3. Freshman Drew Pierson is the programs leading point scorer with two goals and two assists totaling six points. Four players on the squad have scored two goals. Sophomore defender Casey McCarthy owns the most minutes played for the team as he currently sits with 1,350. His two goals on the year were both game-winners. In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Tews has started the majority of the games for Detroit Mercy. Over 12 games, he owns a 1.69 G.A.A. and .655 save percentage. Tews holds four wins in 2023 with two clean sheets.
