Opening Faceoff
  • The RMU women's hockey team will head down south to Nashville, Tenn. for the Smashville Showcase this upcoming weekend. RMU's first game of the series will be on Friday, November 24 against Boston University at 5:00 p.m. ET. The following day, the Colonials will then take on Minnesota State University for a 5:00 p.m. ET puck drop.
  • RMU is coming off a series split with RIT. Hosting the Tigers, the Colonials fell the first game, 3-7 and then came back to win the second contest, 3-2.
  • Jersey Phillips recorded her first career game-winning goal in the second game.
  • Maggie Hatch also registered her fifth 30+ save performance of the season.
  • Defenseman Chloé Puddifant currently sits with 49 career points. With one more she'll reach 50 in her career. She leads all blue liners in points with one goal and six assists.
  • Freshman Alaina Giampietro leads the team in goals (7) and points (13). Sophomore Morgan Giannone has produced 6-6—12.
  • Freshman Janelle Evans owns a team-high seven assists. She also leads the team in +/- with a +6.
  • Captain Wasyn Rice in 11 games holds a team-high 26 blocks.

The All-Time Series (Boston University) – In program history, the Colonials own one win against the Terriers which happened the last time they played a decade ago in 2013. RMU won 3-0 with goals scored by Ashley Vesci, Maeve Garvey and Kylie St. Louis. Current PWHL Toronto forward Brittany Howard recorded one assist in the victory. This will be the first game between these two sides that it's played at a neutral location.
 
Scouting the Terriers – 12 games into the 2023-24 campaign, Boston University is 5-6-1 overall and 4-5-0 in conference play. Senior forward Lacey Martin leads the team in goals, assists and points (7-6—13). Five different skaters have recorded five or more assists on the year. Clara Yuhn and Andi Calderone both hold a team-leading +3. On the blue line, graduate defenseman Nadia Mattivi has blocked a team-high 14 shots. In net, time has been split between graduate Alexa Matses and freshman Mari Pietersen have split time, both appearing in seven games and starting six contests. Matses owns a 2.58 G.A.A. and .891 save percentage with two wins. Pietersen has a 2.80 G.A.A. and .858 save percentage with three wins.
 
The All-Time Series (Mankato) – In 11 games, RMU is 5-4-2 against the Mavericks. The first meeting came in 2006 and the Colonials first win vs. the opposing program happened the following season, winning 7-4. That win started a four-game unbeaten streak for RMU going 3-0-1. Most recently, Mankato and RMU last played in 2018 in Moon Township. Throughout the all-time series, the Colonials have cashed in 30 times, averaging 2.73 goals per game. The Mavericks have also scored 30 times but RMU holds the edge in the series. Four out of the 11 meetings have ended in overtime.
 
Scouting the Mavericks – Heading into the Smashville Showcase, Mankato is 3-10-0 overall and 1-9-0 in their conference. They started off their campaign with a tough schedule facing four ranked opponents in the top 10 through their first 10 games. All four of those ranked programs were members of their WCHA conference, losing to #1 Wisconsin, #4 Minnesota, #8 Minnesota Duluth and #10 St. Cloud State. Senior forward Jamie Nelson owns a team-high eight goals and 11 points. She's also the team-leader in +/- with a +3. Minnesota native Sydney Langseth has produced nine assists. On defense, JuliAnna Gazdik has blocked a team-high 30 shots. Between the pipes, Mankato has played three different netminders. Out of all the goaltenders, they're averaging a 3.26 G.A.A. and .889 save percentage.
