Veltri earns second conference award of the season

Boston, Mass. – Graduate goaltender Chad Veltri was named AHA Goaltender of the Week, announced by the league office today, Monday afternoon.

This is Veltri's second weekly award of the year as he was tabbed AHA Goaltender of the Week in Week 1 of the campaign.

This past week, Veltri helped the Colonials earn their first sweep of the season, beating Niagara, 4-1 at home and 3-1 on the road.

Against his former team, Veltri posted a 1.01 G.A.A. and .978 save percentage in the series. His 88 saves in two games are the most saves in a series by an AHA goalie during the 2023-24 campaign.

Overall, this was his third 80+ save series this year and third 50+ save game for RMU. After his solid weekend performance, Veltri is now in eighth place on the AHA career saves list (3,137) and moves up to sole possession of 10th place on the Atlantic Hockey career wins list with 45 wins.

Statistically, among all current AHA goaltenders, Veltri is ranked first in saves per game (34.12), fourth in save percentage (.925) and tied first in shutouts (1).

From Fox Chapel, Pa., the hometown talent owns four wins this season.

Up next, the Colonials will host #12 Arizona State University for a two-game set this weekend at Clearview Arena before the holiday break. The first game will be on Saturday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m., and game two will be played the following day at 5:00 p.m. Sunday's game will also be broadcasted on SportsNet Pittsburgh.
