Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU golf team concluded play in the Carpetbagger Classic Sunday at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Md., tying for ninth with Binghamton with a 36-hole score of of 610 (+34).
TEAM CHAMPION
Garnering the team title Sunday was Rhode Island, which finished the 7,034-yard course with a score of 585 (+9) to finish five strokes ahead of Bryant (590), which shaved 10 strokes off its score from the first round to hand in the best team score Sunday at 290 (+2). Rounding out the top five was Navy (594), Youngstown State (599) and Howard (600).
SUPER SENIOR
Fifth-year
Chase Miller has gotten his 2023 spring season off to a fine start, posting a 75 Sunday to finish the 36-hole tournament at 147 (+2). He was one of three student-athletes to tie for 11th individually, joining Brandon Conner of Binghamton and Cael Kohan of Bryant. Claiming medalist honors at the Carpetbagger Classic was Leon Heitz (69, 71) of Fairleigh Dickinson, who finished four under par, a stroke ahead of Brandon Gillis from Rhode Island. Miller, meanwhile, added three more birdies to his tally Sunday, including a pair on a par five.
THE LINEUP
Senior
Alex Seelig posted a 77 Sunday to finish the Carpetbagger Classic at 152 (+8), one of seven student-athletes to finish tied for 31st. Senior
Logan Hess finished six strokes behind Seelig at 158 (+14), while senior
Parker Johnson closed with a 160 (+16). Freshman
Peyton Iverson, playing as an individual, notched the best round for RMU Sunday, carding a 74 and handing in a 162 over 36 holes.
