Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU women's track & field team continued its 2023 outdoor season this weekend, competing in the Bison Outdoor Challenge in Lewisburg, Pa., on the campus of Bucknell University at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
THE DISTANCE TO HERE
Sophomore
Grace Mason posted the best time in the 800-meter at RMU in almost 20 years Sunday, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:16.77. That time ranks fourth in program history and is the best mark since 2005. Mason sits sixth in the Horizon League in the event. Mason also notched a time of 4:54.02 in the 1,500-meter, a personal best.
GO THE DISTANCE
The top time for the Colonials in the 1,500-meter was courtesy of sophomore
Frances Kabana, who notched a PR of 4:44.00. Kabana also closed at 2:18.52 in the 800-meter. Freshman
Erin LaQuatra cracked the top five in program history in the 3,000-meter that opened competition Sunday, recording a time of 10:52.10 for RMU.
EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND
Sophomore
Maddie Raymond posted season bests in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes for the Colonials and earned top 10 finishes in both events at Bucknell. She clocked in at 12.02 seconds in the 100-meter to finish ninth while closing at 24.88 seconds in the 200-meter to earn 10th. Raymond currently ranks eighth and 10th, respectively, in the events in the Horizon League. Also in the 200-meter dash, sophomore
Hannah McDanel posted a season best time of 25.79 seconds.
RELAY RACES
Raymond ran the closing leg of the RMU 4x100-meter relay team that finished fifth with a time of 46.66 seconds. Fifth-year
Tara Gologram ran the opening leg and she was followed by junior
Gracie Parker and senior
Elicia Moore. In the 4x400-meter relay, the Colonials posted a time of 3:58.64. In addition to McDanel, Moore and Mason opening the first three legs, Raymond ran the final leg for RMU.
THE LONG ROAD
Gologram highlighted the field events for RMU, earning bronze with a leap of 5.90 meters (19'4.25") on her third attempt of the long jump Saturday. It marks her best leap of the 2023 outdoor campaign and ranks second in the Horizon League. Gologram also recorded her top distance of the year in the triple jump at 11.42 meters (37'5.75").
FIELD HAPPENINGS
In the hammer throw, junior
Madelyn Resciniti (10.81) recorded her best mark of the 2023 spring campaign with a toss of 44.39 meters (145'8"). Senior
Lauren Chappell, meanwhile, compiled 3,915 points in the heptathlon Friday and Saturday. She compiled 467 points thanks to a toss of 9.04 meters (29'8") in the shot put, racked up 578 points in the long jump at 5.07 meters (16'7.75") while unleashing a throw of 25.41 meters (83'4") in the javelin to score 390 points.
