Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU rowing team continued its 2023 spring season Saturday, taking part in the 40th annual Murphy Cup in Philadelphia, Pa., on the Schuylkill River.
VARSITY 8
For the second consecutive week the Colonials entered a pair of Varsity 8 boats for competition, with the First Varsity 8 closing with a time of 7:11.550 and the Second Varsity 8 crossing the finish line with a time of 8:00.660.
QUOTABLE
"We knew this would be some challenging racing and that the results might well go just as they did, but it was definitely a valuable experience," said RMU head coach
Robert Weber. "How fun is it to race against Penn, the ninth ranked team in the country? There were crews that we feel as if we want to be on par with, so it's good to now have a marker to aim for. We're not far off, and we know that what it takes to close the gap is entirely within our control. We continue to see improvement, which is all we can ask for."
