Colonials Release 2023-24 Roster

RMU welcomes eight newcomers for 2023-24 campaign

Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team announced its 2023-24 roster Friday, which includes 15 student-athletes, including eight that are in their first season with the Colonials.

BACK FOR ANOTHER ROUND
Despite eight newcomers, RMU returns three starters from the 2022-23 squad, highlighted by three junior guards, Simone Morris, Rebecca Dwomoh, and Alejandra Mastral. The only returner to start in all 30 contests last year, Morris was a key element for the Colonials. She averaged 7.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks per game for RMU. Morris paced the Colonials in scoring in six games while leading the squad in rebounding in six contests. Dwomoh returns as the leading three-point shooter, knocking down 34 triples last season. She started in 29 games while averaging 7.1 points, 3.1 boards, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest. The junior sharpshooter ended the season by burying at least one trey in six of the last seven games. After starting in 29 games a season ago, Mastral returns as the leader in steals for the Colonials. She ranked seventh in the Horizon League with 1.5 steals per contest while pacing the team with a total of 43. Mastral ended the 2022-23 season averaging just under seven points, 3.2 caroms, and 1.9 assists per contest.

THE QUARTET
Also returning for the Colonials in 2023-24 is junior center Danielle Vuletich, sophomore guards Louella Allana and Natalie Johnson, along with sophomore forward Paris Kirk. Vuletich was a key contributor off the bench, appearing in all 30 games while leading the Colonials in field goal percentage (.460). She finished with 7.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while connecting on 14 triples last season. In the backcourt, Allana returns after appearing in 28 games while sitting second on the team in assists per game (2.4) a season ago. She totaled three or more assists 13 times during the season while leading RMU in assists eight times.

Johnson saw action in all 30 contests in 2022-23 tallying 21 boards, 19 steals, and 15 assists. She ended the year with a season high nine points at Milwaukee in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament, knocking down a pair of triples. Before suffering a season-ending injury, Kirk appeared in 13 games while shooting .500 percent from behind the arc (6-for-12) and .460 percent from the field (23-of-50). She scored in double-figures twice, netting a season high 19 points and five rebounds in a victory over Waynesburg.

A NEW HOME
The Colonials hit the transfer portal this offseason, welcoming two new transfers to the squad. Junior guards Naomi Barnwell and Stephanie Theodossakos will suit up in the blue and white for the first time in 2023-24. A native of France, Barnwell comes to Moon Township after playing two seasons at Monroe College. She appeared in 49 games while making 38 starts for the Mustangs. Barnwell averaged 10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game in her two seasons in New York. She helped the Mustangs reach the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship Tournament in back-to-back seasons while sitting third on the team in scoring. Barnwell shot .424 percent from the field while collecting 84 steals and 26 blocks for Monroe.

Theodossakos joins the Colonials from the University of Tampa after playing two seasons for the Spartans. During her time in Tampa, Theodossakos helped the Spartans to a program-best 33 wins and secured the South Region Championship in 2022-23. The University of Tampa advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time in program history before falling to defending national champion Glenville State.

HALF-DOZEN TO THE MO
RMU welcomes six new freshmen to its 2023-24 roster, including two international student-athletes.
