RMU Women's Basketball Announces Partnership With Cultivated Core

RMU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH CULTIVATED CORE

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball program has announced a new partnership with Cultivated Core, bringing a focus on mental performance coaching designed to help student-athletes strengthen their mindset, manage pressure, and perform at their highest level.

"We are incredibly excited to partner with Cultivated Core and continue to make mental performance a priority within our program," said head coach Chandler McCabe. "The mental side of basketball is such an important part of developing confident, resilient and connected student-athletes, both on and off the court. Having a partner who understands our program and our university at such a deep level makes this opportunity especially meaningful. We look forward to working together throughout the year and giving our players another resource to help them grow and perform at their best."

Through the partnership, RMU student-athletes will have access to mental performance coaching focused on building confidence, sharpening focus, and developing healthy habits to help them navigate pressure and perform at their best both on and off the court.

The partnership also brings Cultivated Core founder Princess Alston back to Robert Morris. Alston was a member of the RMU women's basketball program and helped the Colonials capture a conference championship during her playing career.

"In 2008, during my final home game with the Robert Morris University women's basketball team, my teammates and I became conference champions in a game that came down to the final second and made school history. But we were more than teammates; we were family. That experience taught me how to handle pressure, trust myself, persevere and keep showing up when everything is on the line.

"My doctoral study in neuropsychology, more than 15 years as a licensed therapist and researcher, and my lived experience as an athlete deepened my understanding of how we respond, heal, and perform. Those experiences ultimately led me to found Cultivated Core, where we combine evidence-based practice with lived experience through mental performance coaching.

"It means so much to bring this work back to Robert Morris. I'm grateful to Coach McCabe and her staff for welcoming me back and for prioritizing the mental health and well-being of their student-athletes. I came to RMU as a student-athlete and left with a degree and a championship. Now, I have the opportunity to return and help this team strengthen its mental performance as we work toward bringing another championship home. Let's Go, Bobby Mo!"

The collaboration represents another step in RMU women's basketball's continued efforts to provide its student-athletes with comprehensive resources and experiences that contribute to their development as competitors, teammates, and individuals.
