PITTSBURGH - The RMU rowing team hosted the 2024 Yinzer Cup on Saturday afternoon. The event was four races – a pair of V8s along with a Novice 4+. and a V8 race piece race.
The Varsity 8s raced 4300 meters, the Novice 4+ raced 1000 meters with George Mason. The event finished with the eights racing two 1000 meter races with George Mason. RMU's Novice 4+ capsized when an oarlock came open with about 200m left in the race.
Head Coach Robert Weber:
I think our 2V had a strong performance after only having a couple of days together as a crew. The 1V raced well getting a win over George Mason for the first time during my tenure at RMU and closed the gap on Canisius from last year by about 40 seconds. They're holding themselves to a high standard and had some valuable feedback from today's racing that I think will be impactful heading forward.
