RMU Women's Hockey Set to Host Mercyhurst

RMU Game Notes (11/15 - 11/16)

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team is gearing up for a weekend series at home against Mercyhurst in conference play. The first game is set for Friday, November 15, at 7:00 PM, with the series concluding Saturday, November 16, at 3:00 PM. Fans can catch all the action live on FloHockey, with commentary provided by Adam Gusky, Nathan Breisinger, and Bob Kennedy.
 
RMU LATELY
With a record of 5-6-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference (AHA), RMU returns to the ice after a two-week break. Their last series saw a 2-2 tie against RIT, with RMU securing an extra point in the standings thanks to Janelle Evans' shootout goal. In game two, the Colonials fell 5-1 to the Tigers. Morgan Giannone leads RMU in scoring with 10 points (4g, 6a), while Veronica Bac has tallied a team-high six goals. Defensively, Allyson Hebert has blocked 41 shots, and Maggie Hatch has posted four wins in goal, including a shutout, with a .930 save percentage.
 
HISTORICAL MATCHUP
Dating back to 2005, RMU and Mercyhurst have clashed 81 times. Last season, each team won one game both on home ice and on the road. They met again in the CHA semifinals, where RMU won the opening game 5-0 before Mercyhurst rallied to win the series and advance to the finals.
 
SCOUTING MERCYHURST
The Lakers (3-7-1, 1-1-0 #AHA) also return from a break, coming off a series split with Lindenwood, winning 3-1 before a close 2-1 loss. Junior forward Thea Johansson leads Mercyhurst in goals and points (5-1–6), with senior forward Vanessa Upson contributing a team-high six assists. Sophomore Sofia Ljung has blocked 14 shots. Goaltending duties have been shared by Magdalena Luggin and Jorden Mattison.
 
TEDDY BEAR TOSS NIGHT
Friday's game features RMU's Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are invited to bring teddy bears to Clearview Arena and toss them onto the ice after RMU's first goal. All teddy bears will be donated to the Light of Life Rescue Mission.
 
UP NEXT
Following the series, RMU will head to Penn State for a two-game set on November 22-23.
