MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team will conclude the 2024 calendar year with a two-game non-conference series at Long Island University (LIU). The series opener is scheduled for Friday, December 13, at 3:00 PM, followed by the finale on Saturday, December 14, at 2:00 PM. Both games will take place at the Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow, N.Y., and will stream live on ESPN+.
RMU LATELY
RMU (5-12-1, 0-7-1 #AHA) comes into the series after falling in back-to-back games at Syracuse, both by 4-1 scores. In the series, junior forward
Lindsey Smolen netted her first goal of the season, while senior
Mya Neugent tallied a power-play goal in the finale.

HATCH'S HISTORY
Sophomore goaltender
Maggie Hatch has been a cornerstone for RMU this season, recording 30 or more saves in 10 games, including three performances of 40 or more saves. Her standout performance came against Mercyhurst, where she made a career-high 58 saves on November 16. Hatch boasts a .926 save percentage and one shutout this season. Over her career, she has achieved 30+ saves in 26 games and surpassed the 40-save mark in 11 starts.
FIRST-EVER MATCHUP WITH LIU
This weekend marks the first meeting between RMU and LIU in program history.
SCOUTING THE SHARKS
LIU (10-5-2, 10-2-2 #NEWHA) comes off a single-game loss to Princeton and previously swept Saint Anselm in a two-game conference series, both decided in overtime by 4-3 scores. Senior forward Jeannie Wallner leads the Sharks offensively with nine goals, six assists, and 15 points. Junior forward Anya Weilandt has contributed three power-play goals, while sophomore Grace Babington has scored three game-winners. On defense, graduate blue liner Anna Fairman leads the team with 24 blocked shots. Between the pipes, graduate goaltender Abbie Thompson has earned nine wins, including three shutouts, while maintaining a .930 save percentage.
UP NEXT
Following the series at LIU, RMU will take a three-week holiday break before returning to action at home. The Colonials will host Yale in a two-game series at Clearview Arena, scheduled for January 3-4.
