MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU women's hockey freshman
Alaina Giampietro was named to the USCHO All-Rookie Team. It was announced by the organization, Wednesday morning.
From Strongsville, Ohio, Giampietro ended the season with 31 points, producing 19 goals and 12 assists. Her goal total led all CHA rookies in the 2023-24 campaign.
Among freshmen in the NCAA, her 19 scores and four game-winning tallies were the second most. And, her 31 points ranked the fourth most among rookies across the country.
Throughout the season, she produced eight multipoint efforts and collected a six-game and five-game point streak. On top of that, she registered three power play goals and blocked 26 shots.
In the CHA Semifinal Round at Mercyhurst, over the three-game series, Giampietro posted two goals and two assists, leading RMU skaters in points.
Giampietro garnered several awards throughout her freshman campaign, which started in the first month of the season as she was tabbed the Hockey Commissioners Association and CHA's Rookie of the Month in October. She was named Rookie of the Month by the conference again in February and earned Rookie of the Week status on four occasions.
Giampietro is the sixth Colonial in program history to make the All-USCHO Rookie team. Below is a list of all Colonials to earn the award:
