Hatch and MacKinnon Receive AHA Monthly Honors

BOSTON – RMU women's hockey standouts Maggie Hatch and Jessica MacKinnon were each recognized with Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) monthly honors, the conference announced. Hatch earned Goaltender of the Month accolades for December, while MacKinnon was named Forward of the Month.

The honor marks the second Goaltender of the Month award of Hatch's career, as she previously earned the recognition during her freshman season.

The junior netminder played a pivotal role in guiding the Colonials to an undefeated December, as RMU posted a 3-0-1 record against Syracuse and LIU.

Hatch started all four games during the month and was nearly unbeatable between the pipes, recording three shutouts while making 134 total saves. She finished the month with a remarkable .985 save percentage and a 0.49 goals-against average.

On the season, Hatch now owns five shutouts, tied for third-most nationally, while her .933 save percentage ranks tied for 10th in the NCAA. She has accumulated eight career shutouts, which stands second all-time in RMU program history.

MacKinnon was equally impactful on the offensive end, continuing her dominant season for the Colonials. In four games during December, the junior forward totaled seven points on two goals and five assists. She posted a career-high five-point performance in the series finale against Lindenwood, scoring twice and adding three assists.

In addition to her offensive production, MacKinnon contributed across all areas of the game, recording one power-play goal, blocking two shots and winning 45 faceoffs, good for a 54.2 percent success rate.

Entering the second half of the season, she is tied for first in the conference in both goals (13) and points (28), while also tied for second in assists (15). MacKinnon continues to lead the nation in faceoff wins with 321.

The Colonials have now won nine AHA awards this year:
Up next, the Colonials return to conference action as they host Syracuse for a two-game series at Clearview Arena. Puck drop for game one is set for Friday, January 9 at 7:00 PM, followed by the series finale on Saturday, January 10 at 3:00 PM. Both games will stream live on SportsNet Pittsburgh+ and FloHockey.
