MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's soccer team is set to launch its 2024 season with a home opener against Bucknell on Thursday, August 22, at 4:00 PM at the North Athletic Complex.
A LOOK BACK AT 2023
Under the direction of first-year head coach
Jonathan Potter, the Colonials wrapped up the 2023 season with a 5-6-5 overall record and a 3-4-2 mark in Horizon League play, securing a seventh-place finish in the conference standings. As Potter embarks on his second season, he is joined by assistant coaches
Abraham Lopez-Mendoza and Austin Gorman.
KEY RETURNERS TO WATCH
RMU brings back a solid core of 20 players from last season. Junior midfielder
Anass Hadran, a native of Morocco, led the team in points last year with three goals and four assists.
John Paul Mbuthia,
Gabe Norris, and
Kai McLoughlin each netted a team-high four goals. In goal, sophomore
Kieran Gorgenyi started 13 matches, securing four wins and making 42 saves.
ALL-TIME VS. BUCKNELL
RMU has squared off against Bucknell eight times since 1991, holding a 2-5-1 record against the Bison. The Colonials' first victory over Bucknell came in 2000, with a 1-0 win on home turf. In their most recent matchup in 2023, RMU edged Bucknell 3-2 in Lewisburg, Pa., with goals from McLoughlin, Norris, and
Chase Gilley, and an assist from Hadran.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
Under the leadership of first-year head coach Dave Brandt, Bucknell concluded the 2023 season with a 2-10-4 overall record and a 1-6-2 mark in Patriot League play. Their two victories came against Mount St. Mary's and Lehigh. The Bison welcome seven freshmen and four transfers to their 2024 roster.

After hosting Bucknell, the Colonials will hit the road for their first away match of the season on Sunday, August 25, at 4:00 PM against Mount St. Mary's.
