MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team is set to visit the University of Delaware for the first time to face the new Atlantic Hockey America program. The two-game series begins Friday, October 24, at 6:00 PM, followed by the finale on Saturday, October 25, at 2:00 PM. Both games will take place at Fred Rust Ice Arena and stream live on FloHockey.
RMU LATELY
RMU (3-5-0, 1-1-0 AHA) is coming off a road series at Yale, where the Colonials fell by scores of 5-2 and 4-0. In Friday's opener,
Morgan Giannone and
Lindsey Smolen each found the back of the net, while
Taylor Storey,
Thalia D'Elia,
Shayne Desjardins, and
Emma Goding all recorded assists.
Through eight games, sophomore forward
Jessica MacKinnon leads the Colonials with seven points (2G, 5A).
Alaina Giampietro and
Morgan Giannone share the team lead in goals with three apiece, while both MacKinnon and Storey hold a team-best +3 rating. On the defensive end,
Shayne Desjardins leads RMU with 24 blocked shots.
Between the pipes, junior goaltender
Maggie Hatch has started five games, posting a 2.82 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.
ALL-TIME VS. DELAWARE
This weekend marks the first-ever meeting between RMU and Delaware. The Blue Hens are competing in their inaugural season as members of Atlantic Hockey America.
SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS
Delaware (1-7-0, 0-4-0 AHA) enters the weekend still seeking its first conference victory. The Blue Hens earned their first-ever program win earlier this season with a 2-1 decision over Holy Cross and recently took Syracuse to overtime in a 2-1 loss.
Freshman forward Katelynn Charlton leads the team with three goals and five points, including Delaware's lone power-play goal and game-winner. Freshman defenseman Lexi Lonask has tallied three assists and leads the team with 31 blocked shots.
In goal, Charlotte Payne and Mattie Robitzer have split time. Payne owns a 2.71 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage through four appearances.
As a team, Delaware is averaging 1.0 goal per game while allowing 3.8. The Blue Hens have converted just 3.0% on the power play but have excelled on the penalty kill with a 92.0% success rate.

RMU returns home next weekend to continue conference play against Penn State. The series begins Friday, October 31, at 3:00 PM, followed by the finale on Saturday, November 1, at 5:00 PM. Both games will be played at Clearview Arena and stream live on FloHockey.
