MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's soccer team returns home this weekend to open a three-match homestand, beginning with a Horizon League clash against IU Indy on Saturday, October 4. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. at the North Athletic Complex, with live coverage on ESPN+ featuring Damen McDermott on the call.
RMU LATELY
RMU (3-2-4, 1-0-2 #HLMSOC) enters the weekend sitting in a three-way tie for second place in the Horizon League table alongside Milwaukee and Cleveland State. The Colonials are unbeaten through their first three league contests, picking up points against Detroit Mercy, Purdue Fort Wayne, and Green Bay.
Earlier this week, RMU stepped out of conference play for a tough road test at Penn State, falling 2-0 in University Park. Despite the setback, the Colonials showed resilience in their most recent Horizon League outing, battling top-seeded Purdue Fort Wayne to a scoreless draw on the road.
Freshman forward
Royie Rahamim continues to pace the RMU attack, leading the Colonials in both goals (4) and points (10) through nine matches. Sophomore
Jack Bejarano and redshirt freshman
Jaxson Lee have each dished out a team-best three assists. On the defensive end, junior
Kevin Gorbell has logged 785 minutes, the most on the roster, anchoring a back line that has recorded five clean sheets.
In goal, junior
Josh Lane has started all nine contests, posting three wins with 35 saves and a .778 save percentage. Lane's four shutouts rank among the top marks in the Horizon League.
ALL-TIME VS. IU INDY
Since joining the Horizon League in 2021, RMU has a 3-1 record against the Jaguars. The Colonials came out on top last season in Indianapolis, earning a 3-2 victory behind a goal from
Kyler Miller and an assist from
Kosi Udeh. In their last meeting in Moon Township three years ago, RMU dominated with a 5-0 win, a match that featured a goal from current senior
Victor Koah during his freshman campaign.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
IU Indy (4-3-3, 1-1-1 #HLMSOC) travels to Moon Township positioned just behind RMU in the Horizon League standings. The Jaguars have taken points in two of their first three league matches, earning a draw with Green Bay, a victory over Wright State, and a narrow loss to Milwaukee.
Sophomore defender Stan Klaver leads IU Indy with three goals, while senior midfielder Youri Keijser paces the team in points (2g, 3a). Sophomore Bali Esquivel has also been a key creator, matching the team-high with three assists. Defensively, senior Brady Horn has been a workhorse with 855 minutes on the pitch. Goalkeeper Cameron Maung-Maung has started nine games, recording three shutouts with 31 saves.
The Jaguars are seeking to build on last year's 5-9-3 campaign in which they finished 2-6-1 in Horizon League play, missing the postseason tournament.
