RMU Women's Basketball Opens Up Regular Season on the Road at UIC

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU Women's Basketball opens their regular season schedule with a trip to Chicago to face off with UIC on Monday afternoon. Tipoff at the Credit Union 1 Arena is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET and can be seen live on ESPN+.

LOOKING AT RMU
Head coach Chandler McCabe enters her second season at the helm after leading RMU to a 15-16 overall record and a 10-10 mark in the Horizon League during her first year.
McCabe led RMU to several notable achievements in her first year including leading the Colonials to their first Horizon League Semifinal game in program history as well as tripling their conference win total from the previous season. In the final two months of the 2024-25 season, RMU posted a 10-4 record. McCabe returns her whole staff from last season.

RMU returns three players from last year including senior guard Noa Givon who led the Colonials with 10.6 PPG. Givon recorded 330 points on the season, playing in 31 games while making 31 starts for RMU.

Graduate guard Jada Lee who started in 25 games for RMU and averaged 7.5 PPG also returns for the Colonials this season. Last season Lee had eight double-figure scoring games with a season-high 14 points against St. Bonaventure.

The final returner for RMU is sophomore Jennica Suggs. Last season Suggs made 27 appearances averaging 11.1 minutes for the Colonials as a guard and forward. Suggs averaged 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 points while recording 20 steals and 11 blocks for RMU.

NEW FACES
This season RMU's roster features 11 new players including five freshman and six transfers who all look to make an immediate impact for the Colonials.

The five freshman this season include guard Markeli Jones-Tynes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), guard/forward Sanai Troutman (Frederick, Md.), center Layke Fields (Farrell, Pa.), guard London Creach (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and guard/forward Dania McClain (Harper Woods, Mich.)

Myriam Traore (Lognes, France) joins the RMU lineup after spending her freshman campaign at Siena. Traore appeared in 23 games, making six starts for the Saints. The 6-3 guard was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team after averaging 7.3 PPG along with 4.2 RPG. Traore shot a team-best 53.4% from the field and was second on the team shooting 38.2% from three.

Mallory Daly (Pittsburgh, Pa.) returns home to Pittsburgh after spending her freshman season at Buffalo. Daly appeared in 22 games for the Bulls as a guard, scoring 27 points while adding 29 rebounds, 17 assists and 10 steals.

Ava Leroux (Bridgeville, Pa.) comes to RMU after playing two seasons at Elon where she played in 33 games for the Phoenix. During the 2024-25 season, Leroux averaged 4.4 points and 2.0 rebounds. Leroux finished the season with 98 points, 43 rebounds, 14 assist, 10 steals, and nine blocks.

Forward Eva Levingston (Oakland, Calif.) joins the roster after playing her first two seasons at Cal State Fullerton. Levingston had an impressive two years at Cal State Fullerton making 58 appearances for the Titans. During her sophomore season, Levingston averaged 8.0 PPG with 233 points along with 231 rebounds. Levingston was second in the conference in rebounding at 8.0 RPG. In her freshman campaign, Levingston was an All-Big West Freshman Team selection after averaging 4.8 PPG and 3.7 RPG.

Aislin Malcolm (Carnegie, Pa.) transferred to RMU after playing three seasons at the University of Pittsburgh. For the Panthers, Malcom appeared in over 70 games. Last season for Pitt, Malcom averaged 4.6 point per game. During the 2023-24 season, Malcom was second best on the team in scoring with 9.3 PPG. In her freshman season, Malcom appeared in 23 games off the bench averaging 3.1 points while grabbing 18 rebounds and nine assists. Her 41.2% from deep led all ACC freshman with at least 20 made triples while also ranking sixth among NCCA freshman in 3pt%.

Rounding out the transfers is senior Bailey Kuhns (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) who comes to RMU from Mercyhurst. The 5-11 forward spent the last three seasons with the Lakers where she was named to the 2025 First Team All-NEC after leading the league with 19.9 ppg in Mercyhurst's first season of Division I.

RMU AND UIC HISTORY
In two matchups against UIC, RMU has come out with a win in both contests. The pair meet twice in 2022 with RMU taking the first match 50-44 in Moon Township on Jan. 16 before getting a 57-50 win in Chicago on Feb. 24.
