MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team is set to close out the calendar year with its final non-conference test of the 2025-26 campaign, hosting LIU for a two-game series at Clearview Arena. Game one is scheduled for Friday, December 12 at 7:00 PM, followed by a 3:00 PM puck drop on Saturday, December 13.
Both contests will stream live on FloHockey, with Friday night's opener also airing on SportsNet Pittsburgh. Adam Gusky and Bob Kennedy will have the call Friday, while Kennedy will be joined by Spencer Witt for Saturday's broadcast.
RMU LATELY
RMU (8-12-2, 6-6-2 #AHA) enters the final weekend of 2025 coming off a strong showing at Syracuse, earning five of six points in a key conference road series. The Colonials opened the weekend with a 1-0 shutout victory behind
Thalia D'Elia's third-period power-play goal, assisted by
Catriona Crarer. In net,
Maggie Hatch delivered one of her best performances of the year, stopping all 36 shots she faced for her third shutout of the season and sixth of her career.
In game two, freshman forward
Alexis Vrana scored her first collegiate goal while
Alaina Giampietro added a second-period tally as the teams skated to a 2-2 tie. Crarer, D'Elia,
Jessica MacKinnon and
Laura Eustace each recorded an assist. After a scoreless overtime, Giampietro scored the only goal of the shootout to earn RMU two of three standings points.
Through 22 games, MacKinnon continues to drive the offense with a team-leading 22 points (11g, 11a), averaging a point per game while carrying a team-best +11 rating and three power-play tallies. In goal, Hatch has appeared in 16 games, earning six wins with a .925 save percentage.
SHOOTOUT SUCCESS
Since the AHA introduced shootouts beginning in the 2024-25 season, RMU has been perfect in post-overtime situations. The Colonials are 5-0 in shootouts across the last two seasons, with Giampietro leading the group with two shootout markers.
ALL-TIME VS. LIU
RMU and LIU met for the first time last season. The opener ended in a 1-1 tie with
Morgan Giannone scoring the lone goal, assisted by
Kaitlyn Schooley, before RMU won the shootout, 1-0. In game two, the Colonials earned a 3-1 victory with goals from Eustace,
Ashlyn Ham and
Jersey Phillips. Assists came from Schooley,
Mya Neugent, Giannone,
Calli Arnold and
Shayne Desjardins, and a win in net by
Lucy Phillips.
SCOUTING THE SHARKS
LIU (7-8-1, 5-8-1 NEWHA) arrives in Moon Township on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Post and claiming the series finale at Sacred Heart.
Through 16 games, sophomore forward Drew Dyczkowski leads LIU with seven goals. Junior forward Grace Babington has recorded a team-best 12 points (4g, 8a), pacing the Sharks in overall production. Defenders Addison Robillard and Lisa Schröfl each hold a team-high +5 rating, while junior blueliner Sam Mathe has anchored the defensive unit with 32 blocked shots.
In goal, junior Clara Kammholz has been the primary starter, earning five wins in 12 appearances along with two shutouts, a 2.08 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.
As a team, LIU averages 2.2 goals per game while allowing 2.5. The Sharks' power play converts at 18.9%, and their penalty kill sits at 75.4%. LIU has also been strong in the faceoff circle, winning 51.1% of their draws.
COMMON OPPONENTS
Both teams have faced Delaware and Assumption this season. RMU swept both opponents, while LIU defeated Delaware twice but suffered two overtime losses to Assumption.

After the holiday break, RMU returns to full-time conference play to open the 2026 portion of the schedule. The Colonials host Syracuse for a two-game series beginning Friday, January 9 at 7:00 PM, followed by a 3:00 PM meeting on Saturday, January 10. Both contests will stream live on SportsNet Pittsburgh+ and FloHockey.
