MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team (4-2) is continuing its four-game road stretch with a trip to Erie to take on the Mercyhurst Lakers (0-6) on Wednesday morning at the Owen McCormick Court at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Tipoff for the non-conference matchup is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and can be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (4-2) dropped their second straight game, falling to Eastern. Michigan 64-54 on Saturday afternoon in Ypsilanti. Against the Eagles, the Colonials shot 32.7% from the field and a mere 11.8% from beyond the arc, going 2-for-17.
Bailey Kuhns led RMU with a game-high 25 points along with seven boards.
KUHNS' HOMECOMING HEADLINES RMU'S TRIP TO MERCYHURST
Senior guard
Bailey Kuhns is making her return to Erie for the first time since transferring to RMU from Mercyhurst this season. Last season for the Lakers, Kuhns led Mercyhurst, being named to the 2025 First Team All-NEC, where she led the league with 19.9 PPG. She played in 27 games for the Lakers, earning 26 starts. Kuhns earned herself a starting spot in the Colonial lineup, currently averaging 10.0 PPG and 5.2 RPG through six games. Kuhns' most recent start saw her drop a game-high 25 points in RMU's loss to Eastern Michigan.
SCOUTING MERCYHURST
Mercyhurst will host RMU with a 0-6 record to begin the season after dropping its most recent matchup against Canisius 75-67 in Buffalo. The Lakers have two players in double-digits, with Lena Walz leading the Lakers with 13.0 PPG, while Jenna Van Schaik is averaging 11.0 PPG. On the glass, Walz leads the team with 3.7 RPG. The Lakers are under the direction of first-year head coach Erin Mills-Reid, who was named the head coach in April.
RMU AND MERCYHURST HISTORY
This will be the sixth meeting between the pair, dating back to 1980. The Colonials currently have a 5-0 advantage over the Lakers, never dropping a contest to Mercyhurst. Against the Lakers, RMU averages 84.2 points in contests, with their largest margin of victory being a 100-50 win back in 1985. The pair met last December in their most recent matchup with the Colonials, getting a 69-49 win at home.
