HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The RMU men's golf team recorded its highest finish at the Horizon League Championship since joining the conference, placing fourth out of 10 teams. The Colonials posted a team score of +34 (898) over the three-round event held at Mission Resort + Club.
"We have a taste now and know we can compete with the best teams in this conference," said head coach
Steve Shingledecker. "While we are pleased to have our first Top 4 conference championship finish, the goals will continue to grow. We are thrilled for Peyton and Ben, both guys played so solid in the final two rounds."
Out of a field of 53 golfers,
Peyton Iverson and
Ben Sheridan tied for sixth place with a score of +5 (221). Iverson showed steady improvement throughout the tournament, carding rounds of +4, +1, and even par. Sheridan bounced back from a +7 in Round 1 with an impressive two-under-par performance in Round 2 and finished even in Round 3.
Chuck Tragesser (+4/+2/+5) finished +11 overall, tying for 19th place, while
Tanner Cardwell (+4/+6/+3) finished +13, tying for 23rd.
