MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Former RMU head Men's Lacrosse coach Kenneth "Bear" Davis will be inducted into the Ohio Lacrosse Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 2 at The Ohio Union in Columbus.
Davis, who founded and led the Colonials' men's lacrosse program from its inception in 2005 until 2011, laid the groundwork for the team's future success. In 2010, Davis guided RMU to its first-ever 10-win season and United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national ranking. In his final two seasons, Davis' teams led the NCAA in scoring (14.33 in 2011 and 15.3 in 2010).
Over his seven seasons at the helm, Davis compiled 36 victories for the Colonials. He also coached the program's inaugural USILA All-American and Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year, Trevor Moore. In total, Davis mentored 14 different all-conference players who earned 20 individual accolades during his tenure.
His coaching career began at Wilmington High School, where he led the team to a Division III state runner-up finish in 1998. Davis then transitioned to the collegiate ranks, first as a graduate assistant at Marietta College, followed by a successful tenure as the founding head coach at Wheeling Jesuit, guiding that program into the USILA Division II Top 10 in 2003.
Following his time at Robert Morris, Davis coached at Archbishop Spalding High School in Maryland for three seasons, concurrently serving as associate athletic director. In 2013, Davis returned to Ohio to become the head coach of the Ohio Machine, a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) franchise. Taking over a last-place expansion team, he masterfully built a perennial contender. Davis led the Machine to four playoff appearances from 2014 to 2017, including two MLL championship game appearances, ultimately capturing the franchise's first MLL Championship in 2017. His exceptional leadership earned him three MLL Coach of the Year nominations (2015–2017) and head coaching honors for the MLL All-Star Games in 2017 and 2018, which included a victory over Team USA.
Most recently, Bear served as the offensive coordinator at Hilliard Davidson High School, helping guide the program to three consecutive regional final appearances. In 2023, he was recognized as the Ohio High School Lacrosse Man of the Year.
