RMU Men's Hockey Welcomes Six Freshmen for 2025-26 Season

Colonials sign four forwards, one defenseman and one goaltender

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's hockey team has officially signed six incoming freshmen for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Head Coach Derek Schooley and his staff have assembled a group of four forwards, one defenseman and one goaltender.

"I'm excited to welcome these six outstanding young men to our program," said Schooley. "Recruiting is a 24/7 job and with all the changes in the recruiting landscape, I want to thank the previous staff for doing a great job putting this group together. These players have all the skills, experience and leadership we're looking for. They've played in some tough leagues and are ready for college hockey. I know they're going to be a great fit for our program."

Julian Beaumont | Forward | Allen, Texas

Played junior hockey for the Bismarck Bobcats (NAHL) from 2022-25.
Won the Robertson Cup with the Bobcats in 2025 and was named the tournament's MVP after recording three goals, eight assists, and 11 points in 13 games.
Served as an alternate captain of his squad in 2024-25.
Over three seasons, he appeared in 147 games, scoring 48 goals, 75 assists, and 123 points.

Bruce McDonald | Forward | Ottawa, Ontario

Played junior hockey in the OHL for the Owen Sound Attack and Erie Otters.
In 2024-25 with the Owen Sound Attack, he appeared in 62 games, scoring 10 goals, 19 assists, and 29 points.
In 2023-24 with the Erie Otters, he appeared in 65 games, scoring 18 goals, 17 assists, and 35 points.
In 2022-23 with the Erie Otters, he appeared in 67 games, scoring seven goals, 11 assists, and 18 points.

Zeke Nicholson | Forward | Vancouver, British Columbia

Played junior hockey in the BCHL for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
Captained his team in the 2024-25 season.
Over four seasons, he skated in 183 games for the Bulldogs, scoring 37 goals, 46 assists, and 83 points.
Played in 52 career playoff games for Alberni, scoring six goals, 15 assists, and 21 points.

Luca Primerano | Forward | North Vancouver, British Columbia

Played junior hockey in the BCHL for the Cowichan Valley Capitals and Prince George Spruce Kings.
Served as an alternate captain for Cowichan Valley in 2024-25, playing in 54 games and recording 23 goals, 27 assists, and 50 points.
In the two years prior with the Spruce Kings, he appeared in 94 games, producing 17 goals, 31 assists, and 48 points.

John Babcock | Defenseman | North Vancouver, British Columbia

Played junior hockey in the WHL for the Regina Pats, Saskatoon Blades, and Kelowna Rockets.
Served as an alternate captain for the Pats in 2024-25.
Over six seasons in the WHL, he played a total of 252 games, posting 10 goals, 67 assists, and 77 points.

Charlie Schenkel | Goaltender | Toronto, Ontario

Played junior hockey in the OHL for the Kingston Frontenacs and Soo Greyhounds.
In 2024-25, he appeared in 22 games with the Frontenacs, recording a 3.39 GAA and a .873 save percentage, and appeared in 25 games with the Greyhounds, recording a 2.89 GAA and a .914 save percentage.
In 2023-24, he appeared in 47 games with the Greyhounds, recording a 3.10 GAA and a .883 save percentage.
In 2022-23, he appeared in 31 games with the Greyhounds, recording a 3.49 GAA and a .894 save percentage.
